Germany shares 5% of Iran’s total imports

Germany remained fifth top goods exporter to Iran during the first eight months of the current fiscal year (March 20-Nov. 21, 2016) with $1.461 billion worth of exports.

Germany’s exports to Iran increased by 25 percent in the 8-month period, according to the latest statistics released by Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI).

The country shared 5.3 percent of Iran’s overall imports which accounted for $27.383 billion in the first eight months of the current fiscal year.

Besides Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy were also European countries which took place among top exporters of goods to Iran in the period.

Iran purchased 60 percent of its totally imported goods during the first eight months of current fiscal year (March 20-Nov. 21) from five countries - China, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Turkey and Germany.

China was the main exporter of goods to Iran in the mentioned period. China’s exports accounted for 23.6 percent of Iran's total imports in terms of value.

Iran imported $6.469 billion worth of goods from China during the 8-month period, indicating a 5 percent fall year-on-year.

Iran also imported $4.679 billion worth of goods from the UAE (11 percent fall), which marks 17.1 percent of Iran's total imports' value.

South Korea and Turkey exported $2.148 billion, and $1.76 billion worth of goods respectively to Tehran.

South Korea exports to Iran indicated a decrease by 12 percent, meanwhile imports from Turkey registered a fall by 14 percent.

India was the sixth top goods exporter to Iran with $1.297 billion worth of exports (indicating a fall by 15 percent), followed by Russia ($1.196 billion, 213 percent increase), Switzerland ($1.016 billion worth of goods, 38 percent fall), France ($667 million, 34 percent increase), and Italy ($664 million, 13 percent increase).
