Iran-Syria 7 months trade reach $110M

The trade turnover between Iran and Syria reached $110.62 million during seven months of Iran's current fiscal year, started on March 21, 2016.

According to the statistics of Iran Trade Promotion Organization, Iran exported $105.455 million worth of goods to Syria, while its imports reached $5.165 million during the mentioned period, IRNA reported Jan.18.

The highest trade turnover between two countries was in a fiscal year to March 2010, reaching to $545.2 million, of which 94 percent was the share of Iran’s export to Syria, while the lowest level belongs to a fiscal year to March 2013, when the figure stood at $109.21 million, of which the share of Iran’s export was 91.6 percent, the report said.

Iranian and Syrian officials signed five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on the sidelines of a meeting between the visiting Syrian Prime Minister Emad Khamis and Iranian First Vice-President Eshagh Jahangiri in Tehran on Jan. 17, Iran's state-run IRINN TV reported.

The signed documents include MoUs for assignment of mobile operator license in Syria and assignment of a phosphate mine in Syria’s Sharqiya as well as allocating areas for construction of oil storage facilities and oil terminal in the country.
