Denmark supports Georgia's desire to become a member of the EU and NATO, the Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moeller said in a joint new conference with the Georgian Foreign Minister, Grigol Vashadze in Tbilisi.

He said "Georgia should do what it thinks is necessary for future development".

Moeller said the EU has made every effort in order to reduce the impact of last year's war in August. "The EU now is doing everything to avoid such cases in future and to make Georgia an independent and developed country," he said.

Moeller said Denmark, together with the EU last year set up a special humanitarian program for Georgia.

In turn, Grigol Vashadze said that the meeting discussed the situation in the occupied territories, the territorial integrity of Georgia, the Euro-Atlantic integration of the country. "I am glad that Denmark is among those countries that provide continuous support to Georgia," he said.

Per Stig Moeller is on visit to Georgia for the third time.

His visit began today, on Oct. 5 and will run by Oct. 7. During the visit, Moeller will meet with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, Parliamentary Speaker David Bakradze and representatives of the opposition.
