Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 28 / Trend I. Isabalayeva /
Azerbaijani tourist companies will be able to electronically apply for a licence from October, Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev said at a conference dedicated to International Tourism Day in Baku today.
The minister stressed that this innovation is very important for combating corruption.
Garayev also said that during the year only tourists can get a visa through the Internet.
"The number of people traveling to the regions for a holiday increased this summer tourist season," he said. "During the season, 100,000 people were accommodated in hotels. This figure was submitted by the hotels to the ministry, but we must take into account that they give incomplete information."
Head of the department under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Gabil Abbasov told Trend that the licenses will be issued to the hotels and hotel-type facilities in electronic form. The ministry has already prepared and put into operation the relevant system.
He said that on-line payment will operate for the issuance of licenses for this form, but a tour operator must be registered to use the system.
