British ambassador completes diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan

The leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan received Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Rupert Joy on Tuesday in connection with completion of his diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan received Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Rupert Joy on Tuesday in connection with completion of his diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Foreign Ministry expressed its gratitude to Joy, for his personal contribution to the expansion of political, trade, economic and parliamentary cooperation.

Joy, in turn, thanked for their help in carrying out his mission in Uzbekistan.

The sides discussed topical issues of bilateral relations and some aspects of international and regional issues, and exchanged views on promising areas of cooperation.

It was noted that favorable conditions, created by joint efforts, allow to rapidly develop the Uzbek-British dialogue and to use existing potential of partnership.

George Edgar appointed new British Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Trend reported previously. He is expected to assume his duties in August.

Edgar is in the structure of the British Foreign Office since 1981. He worked at the British Embassy in Russia and later in the High Commission in Lagos (Nigeria), then ambassador to Cambodia and Macedonia, the Consul General in St. Petersburg.
