Georgia and USA discuss regional security

President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and Vice President of the United States Joe Biden discussed the situation in the Caucasus at a meeting held within the framework of the visit of the President of Georgia to the United States, Georgian President's administration told Trend on Saturday.

During the meeting the parties discussed the situation and the processes taking place in the region in terms of security. They also discussed Georgia's integration into NATO and the European institutions, as well as the signing of a free trade agreement between Georgia and the United States.

Biden once again confirmed that the U.S. Government supports Georgia's integration into NATO. He noted that the main thing on this way is the continuation of the democratic processes and reforms in Georgia.

Biden emphasized Georgia's success in the fields of improving democracy, economic stability and state-building in recent years.

He thanked the President of Georgia for his personal contribution to the development of the country, as well as for assistance in the fight against terrorism, mentioning the cooperation between the two countries in this field.
