Chief of the Georgian Armed Forces General Staff, Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze celebrated Christmas with Georgian troops in Afghanistan, the Georgian Defense Ministry told Trend.

Georgian Deputy Defense Minister Irakli Gegechkori, deputy chief of general staff Colonel Roman Jokhadze and commander of the first brigade Lieutenant Colonel Giorgi Shengelia also congratulated the personnel of the 31st battalion stationed at the Lezernik base in Afghanistan's Helmand province. They took part in the Christmas liturgy held in a Georgian chapel at the base.

Vakhtang Kapanadze awarded Georgian soldiers with the defense ministry's medals "For loyalty to the Motherland".
