Azerbaijani Pilgrim Elvin Aslanov, who got injured in bus bombing in Iraq, has been successfully operated, his father Ilgar Aslanov told Trend.

Aslanov said the Iraqi doctors removed the bullet from his son's hand on Thursday night.

Azerbaijani pilgrim Intigam Rustamov died and Elvin Aslanov, Elchin Abdullayev and Elchin Abdullayev got injured when Hyundai bus carrying the Azerbaijani pilgrims was blown up by a land mine in the Iraqi province of Diala on Oct.13.

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Jordan, accredited in Iraq, is engaged in handing over the body of Rustamov home.

The remaining pilgrims arrived in Karbala on Thursday morning. All of them have been granted visas in the Iraqi embassy in Baku.

This is not the first tragic incident with Azerbaijani pilgrims in Iraq. In January, a bus with Azerbaijani pilgrims was shot near the Iraqi city of Kerbala. As a result, a 16-year-old girl was killed and three others were injured.

In March, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry published a warning on the website with an appeal for Azerbaijani citizens to refrain from trips and pilgrimages to sacred sites, located in the Iraqi towns of Mosul, Najaf and Kerbala
