BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. The Azerbaijan national team on acrobatic gymnastics is preparing for the stages of the World Cup, Head coach of the Azerbaijani national team on acrobatic gymnastics Irada Gurbanova told Trend at the sidelines of the 29th Azerbaijan Championship among Age Categories and Baku Championship in Acrobatic Gymnastics.

Gurbanova mentioned that the current championship competitions serve as crucial training sessions for most members of the national team ahead of the World Cup stages.

"Three series of World Cup stages commence in May. Currently, we're gearing up for these Cups, along with parallel tournaments where the junior team of the national team will participate. Our primary focus lies on the World Championships in acrobatic gymnastics scheduled for September in Portugal. Hence, the competitions slated for April 25–26 serve as a trial run. Additionally, we're conducting some selections for potential candidates for the national team," she said.

Speaking about the training of the national team members, the head coach noted that the first day of the competition showed that the team stood ready.

"We have two more weeks of preparation before the World Cup. Our team is solid and capable. We've maintained consistent performance thus far, and I have confidence it will persist. Our competitors from Ukraine, the UK, Germany, Belgium, and Israel pose formidable challenges at international competitions. Nonetheless, we strive to maintain our standards," said the head coach.

The Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex in Baku is hosting the 29th Azerbaijan Championship among Age Categories and the Baku Championship in Acrobatic Gymnastics, taking place on April 25–26.
