Council of Europe will hear report on elections held in Georgia

The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe will hold a plenary session in Strasbourg on Oct.27, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at the news briefing on Monday.

The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe will hold a plenary session in Strasbourg on Oct.27, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at the news briefing on Monday.

The observation mission of the Council of Europe will present its report on the local elections in Georgia at the session, she said.  Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava will attend the session and make a speech.

"The mission of the Council of Europe observed the elections held to local authorities in Georgia. The mission developed a report on its monitoring. The mission has developed a positive conclusion, which is very important. The final consideration of this report will be held on Oct.27," Kalandadze said.

Georgia held the elections to local authorities on May 30. The United National Movement party won a landslide victory in the elections.  The international community recognized the elections as successful.
