Baku and Beijing agreed to strengthen military cooperation during the meeting of the Chief of General Staff of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) Chen Bingde with Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev on Tuesday in the Chinese capital, Xinhua reported.

"China has a positive attitude towards further development of exchanges and cooperation with the armed forces of Azerbaijan", Chen Bingde said.

According to him, China and Azerbaijan enjoyed long-time friendship. China attached great importance to the bilateral relations.

"The successful development of relations between the armed forces of China and Azerbaijan has been seen over the past years. A satisfactory outcome of cooperation in various fields has been reached. We hope the two sides make joint efforts to preserve and develop the existing friendly relations and cooperation between the armies of two countries", Chen Bingde said.

In his turn, Safar Abiyev said that Azerbaijan attaches importance to the friendly cooperation with Chinese military and thanked China's support to their military building.

"We hope to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the armies of our two countries and ready to make unremitting efforts to this", Abiyev said.
