EXCHANGE OF VIEWS ON JOHN SMITH MEMORIAL FOUNDATION ACTIVITIES HELD AT AZERBAIJAN’S FM

The Foreign Minister (FM) of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met with the delegation headed by the deputy chairman of the British Liberal-Democratic Party, the Foreign Minister in the shadow cabinet, deputy chairman of the John Smith Memorial Foundation Board, sir Mansiyes Campbell, the Azerbaijan’s FM press centre says, Trend reports.

A wide exchange of views on the John Smith Memorial Foundation and the Educational Program implemented by it was held at the meeting. Having reported, that the main goals of the Foundation are encouraging democracy, public justice and professional management in countries willing to apply the western model of the democracy, the guest noted the significant importance is attached to the cooperation with Azerbaijan on the John Smith educational program. It was noted the Foundation is currently carrying out activities in 7 countries of the post-Soviet space, including Azerbaijan. The Educational Program familiarizes the talented youth with political and public institutions, the political system of the United Kingdom and the experience accumulated in these fields. Among 21 participants of the Foundation’s program for 2005 there are also 3 Azerbaijanis.

The FM Mammadyarov appreciated highly the cooperation with the John Smith Educational Program and noted the partaking in such programs is of a great importance.
