The operation of the Azeraluminium Open Joint Stock Company does not bring a special harm to the country’s ecology. The impact on the environment of the factory at the moment is considerably lower of the soviet period and in the environmental protection issues the
factory achieved the world standards requirements, deputy head of the executive power on social and economic issues Ilham Aliyev told Trend.
It should be noted, the aluminium production is planned to increase in the nearest years in Azerbaijan. In 2004, Azeraluminium produced 30,000 tons of aluminium and about 300,000 tons of alumina.
The last indicator is the highest during the final 20 вЂ"year production in Gyanja. 30,000 tons of aluminium make up 50% of the Sumgayit’s plant production capacity. Last year the output for about $100 million was exported.
Construction of a new factory with the production capacity of 50,000 tons of aluminium is planned in Gyanja. In 2006, production of alumina will be brought to 450,000 tons. Our forecast for this year is 400,000 tons.
