Thousands of pirated DVDs seized in Azerbaijan

Thousands of pirated DVDs, produced in foreign countries and designed for sale only in their markets, have been seized by the State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development, the ministry said today.
"Some 2,700 pirated DVDs were seized as a result of inspections of commercial facilities," the ministry said.
Monitoring the sale of pirated DVDs in Azerbaijan has has been initiated after complaints received by the State Service. The inspection took place in a number of shopping centers in Baku.
"A criminal case has been filed in connection with violation of antimonopoly laws towards business entities in connection with misleading consumers and unfair competition," the ministry said
