Iran, Afghanistan trade increases - Chamber of Commerce

TEHRAN, Iran, Aug.23

Trend:

Trade volume and cargo transit between Iran and Afghanistan would increase via border as Afghanistan has opened its border with Iran, member of Iran Chamber of Commerce predicted, Trend reports citing ILNA.

The issue would force most businessmen of Arab and the Persian Gulf countries to send their commodities to Chabahar therefore cargo transit development via Iran and Afghanistan borders would increase trade volume, Masoud Daneshmand said.

A major part of transactions in the Afghanistan border is paid by cash and it could bring more USD from Herat to Iran.

"If the current situation continues it is possible to have a small effect on Tehran's market and prices would slightly decline because supply will increase. Iran and Afghanistan's direct trade would also increase a little but it would have a small effect," he added.

"The psychological effect of Taliban coming to power on USD rate in Iran was not too much because in general Afghanistan's economy is not big enough to have a significant effect on Iran's economy," he noted.
