Samples of birds blood and birds picked during monitoring in Azerbaijan sent to London for repeated analyses for the bird flu virus on the initiative of the US Embassy in Baku, the Agricultural Ministry told Trend.

Along with this, laboratory equipment has been brought and installed for conducting analyses of the samples and purchased on the funds allocated from the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAR) for the total amount of $100,000.

Since August 2005 all countrys border and veterinary points passed on the intensified control, especially in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Hunting for wild birds and sale of live poultry in the markets has been banned.

Since 30 January the Veterinary Service started works within the 8-th monitoring. Results of the previous ones have not revealed any signs of this virus in Azerbaijan.
