In July the Board of Directors of the international payment system MasterCard will consider the issue on admission of Bank of Azerbaijan associate member of the system. The bank told Trend, starting from September it is planned to launch the issue of plastic cards MasterCard. Like in case with Visa International, the bank will become member of MasterCard through sponsorship of the International Bank of Azerbaijan.
In this connection the installation of 30 cash-vending machines will be set up from July. One of them will be placed in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR). The Bank also ordered 2,000 POS-terminals, including 500 allocated for NAR. Their installation will be carried out within the framework of measures on transition to non-cash accounting and the shipping facilities with be provided with such devices. At present Bank of Azerbaijan jointly with the ASRD is designing a project on transition to payment of the fairs in the railway transportation through cards.
