Azerbaijan May Be Involved in Nabucco as Gas Supplier and through its Infrastructure – Minister (video)

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr A. Badalova / Azerbaijan may be involved in the Nabucco pipeline as gas supplier and through its infrastructure, the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev said on 22 November.

"Presently, Azerbaijan has some 2trln cu m of gas. Reserves in Absheron, Nakhchivan, Alov, and Zafar-Mashal prospective off-shore fields may be also used for such projects in future," he said.

According to the Minister, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will receive a share in Nabucco project.

With a length of 4,000km, the Nabucco gas pipeline will transport gas from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to the EU. The gas from Central Asia to Nabucco may be delivered via projected Tran-Caspian pipeline.

"If Turkmenistan initiates using Azerbaijani territory for transportation of its gas to Europe, Azerbaijan may offer its infrastructure," Aliyev said.
