Within preparation of the Azerbaijani energy system for the fall-winter season of 2010-2011, most of the works were carried out on power transmission lines, JSC Azerenergy (electricity production and distribution in Azerbaijan) head Etibar Pirverdiyev said today.

Within preparation of the Azerbaijani energy system for the fall-winter season of 2010-2011, most of the works were carried out on power transmission lines, JSC Azerenergy (electricity production and distribution in Azerbaijan) head Etibar Pirverdiyev said today.

"Speaking about the preparation for the winter season, this year mainly a lot of works have been carried out on power lines, especially on lines located in the Absheron zone," Pirverdiyev said.

According to Pirverdiyev, appropriate preparatory works were carried out by the JSC on power plants.

He said the installed capacity of the Azerbaijani energy system is 6,000 megawatts.

Today Azerbaijan's power engineering specialists celebrate their professional holiday. In 2004, October 20 was approved as a professional holiday of power engineering specialists. Within the celebration of this day, JSC Azerenergy's delegation, headed by Etibar Pirverdiyev visited the Alley of Honor and laid a wreath on the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev's grave.
