Iran is to increase gas production capacity in South Pars Phase one by mid September to more than 25 percent, SHANA reported quoting project manager of South Pars Phase one Rohullah Zeyghami as saying.

" The operation plan will be complete by September 22 and the increase of gas production capacities in offshore platforms will increase by 25 percent on mid September, he said.

The plan is to increase current gas production to 1,000 million cubic foot gas per day by drilling new wells in future, he added.

The South Pars gas field is located in the Persian Gulf on a border zone between Iran and Qatar. The field's reserves are estimated at 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of liquefied natural gas.

South Pars oil and gas field is one of the largest in the world and is expected to produce up to $130 billion in revenues per year.
