Azerbaijan, Baku, November 28 / Trend, E. Ismailov /

One of the key activities of production unit Azeriqaz, part of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), is the implementation of programs envisioning gasification level upgrade and an increase of total gasification level up to more than 90 per cent, a source with the SOCAR told Trend on Monday.

New clients' linking to the gas supply network has been intensified, and the quality of gas supply to the existing clients has been improved under the program.
"Works on laying and replacement of gas pipelines, and installation and repair of the existing gas infrastructure are being done everywhere. All this is essential to raise the general gasification level throughout the country," the source noted.
As a result of the works, villages and settlements where there was no gas until lately are being connected to the gas supply network. "We observe these achievements in different regions of the country," the source noted.

Works under the Program are being carried out in accordance with the schedule, and Azeriqaz plans to reach the forecasted indicators, under which gasification level in the country will exceed 90 per cent, by 2013.

SOCAR Head Rovnag Abdullayev reported earlier that gasification level in Baku and a series of regions will reach to 100 per cent after the program is completed. However, no 100 per cent gasification will be observed in some regions, especially mountainous ones due to economic inexpediency of gasification of some remote villages.
