Georgia decreases gas import from Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19

Georgia has imported 492,527.5 tones of gas worth $76.71 million from Azerbaijan from January through March 2021, Trend reports via the Georgian National Statistics Committee (Geostat).

As reported, the value of gas imported from Azerbaijan has decreased by $19.12 million or 20 percent year on year.

Thus in the first three months of 2020, Georgia has imported 667,698.4 tones of gas worth $95.84 million from Azerbaijan.

The volume of Georgia's foreign trade turnover with Azerbaijan amounted to $250.29 million from January through March of this year, which is 13.6 percent or $39.33 million less than in the same period of 2020.

For the same period last year, this figure was $289.63 million.

During the reporting period, Georgia imported goods and products from Azerbaijan for $145.71 million, which is 11.4 percent less in annual comparison. During the reporting period, imports from Azerbaijan amounted to 7.5 percent of Georgia's total imports.

From January through March, Georgia's exports to Azerbaijan amounted to $104.57 million. This is 16.4 percent less than in the same period last year. Exports to Azerbaijan accounted for 12.7 percent of Georgia's total exports.

As a result, in the first quarter of 2021, a negative balance of $41.13 million was formed in the trade turnover of Georgia with Azerbaijan, which is 4.2 percent more in annual terms. For the same period last year, the negative balance amounted to $39.46 million.
