Oil&Gas Materials 22 June 2006 10:27 (UTC +04:00)

Representatives of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey will discuss in Baku on 28 June the issue of security of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main export oil pipeline, Trend reports quoting the Turkish media. The previous session in this direction was held in Ankara October 2005.

The major risks for security of the BTC are robbery, terror attacks and environmental pollution.

Ankara committed itself to conduct training on security of strategic pipelines both for Georgia and Azerbaijan.

The Turkish media notes over the past 28 years Ankara has been providing the security of the Kerkuk-Yurmurtalik oil pipeline, as a result of which NATO announced Turkey as the most secure energy country of the Alliance.
