Volume of repo transactions registered by Azerbaijan’s NDC drops by more than 10%

The National Depository Center (NDC) of Azerbaijan registered 249 repos in the amount of more than 451.382 million manats in January-July 2019, Trend reports referring to statistical data provided by the NDC.

Relative to the same period of last year, the total number of repo transactions decreased by 7.7 percent, but their share in local currency increased by 9.4 percent and amounted to 241 transactions (96.8 percent of the total) due to a sharp reduction in transactions in US dollars. As such, 8 such transactions were concluded (3.2 percent) over the whole period, which is four times less than during the same period last year.

The total volume of registered repo transactions (in local currency and in US dollars - 447.489 and 3.893 million manats, respectively) decreased by almost 10.25 percent compared to January-July 2018. The share of the volume of transactions concluded in local currency increased by 4.6 percent and amounted to 99.1 percent of the total due to a seven-fold reduction in the volume of registered transactions in US dollars.

In total, 3,168 transactions in the amount of 9.115 billion manats (8.699 in local currency and 439.739 in US dollars) were registered by the NDC in January-July 2019. When compared to January-July 2018, the volume of such transactions increased by 2.1 percent.

Relative to the same period of last year, the total number of transactions registered by NDC in local currency increased by 11.9 percent, having amounted to 2,844 transactions. The number of transactions in US dollars decreased by 42 percent and amounted to 324 transactions. The share of all transactions in local currency of the total number of transactions registered by NDC increased by 7.7 percent and amounted to 89.8 percent.
