About 60,000 tourists from Central Asia visit Turkey in March 2019

In March 2019, 58,800 tourists from the countries of Central Asia (Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan) visited Turkey, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey.

Most of the tourists from the Central Asia, who visited Turkey in March 2019, accounted for Turkmenistan.

In March 2019, 22,600 tourists from Turkmenistan visited Turkey, which is 18.44 percent more compared to March 2018. The share of Turkmenistan tourists in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in March 2019 reached 1.02 percent.

In the same period, 18,500 tourists from Kazakhstan visited Turkey, which is 23.92 percent more compared to March 2018. The share of Kazakhstani citizens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in March 2019 was 0.83 percent.

According to the ministry, in March 2019, 16,900 tourists from Uzbekistan visited Turkey, which is 23.32 percent less than in March 2018. The share of Uzbeks in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in March 2019 was 0.76 percent.

In March 2019, 8,800 tourists from Kyrgyzstan visited Turkey, which is 9.57 percent more than in March 2018. The share of Kyrgyz tourists in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey made up 0.4 percent, the ministry reports.

According to the ministry, in the 1Q2019, 188,800 tourists from the countries of Central Asia (Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan) visited Turkey including 65,100 tourists from Turkmenistan, 48,300 from Kazakhstan, 48,700 from Uzbekistan and 26,700 from Kyrgyzstan.

In the same period, 318,700 tourists from Russia visited Turkey, which is 37.58 percent more compared to the 1Q2018.

As reported, in March 2019, 2.232 million tourists visited Turkey, which is 4.33 percent more compared to March 2018.

In the 1Q2019, 5,442 million tourists visited Turkey, which is 6.12 percent more compared to the same period of 2018. In this period, Turkey’s tourism revenues amounted to $4.6 billion, having increased by 4.6 percent compared to the 1Q2018, Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) reports.

According to the TUIK, 80.3 percent of Turkey's total income received in the tourism sector in the 1Q2019 accounted for foreign tourists. The remaining 19.7 percent accounted for Turkish citizens living abroad.
