The Senate (upper house) of the Kazakh Parliament adopted the Law on Ratification of the International Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers of Phonograms and Broadcasting Organizations.

The Senate (upper house) of the Kazakh Parliament adopted the Law on Ratification of the International Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers of Phonograms and Broadcasting Organizations.

"The law is developed in connection with signing of an agreement on Dec. 9, 2010 on common regulatory principles for the protection of intellectual property within the Customs Union and formation of Common Economic Space, which envisage Kazakhstan's commitment to join the Rome Convention," Kazakh Justice Minister Rashid Tusupbekov said.

Rome Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers of Phonograms and Broadcasting Organizations dated Oct. 26, 1961 is aimed at regulating cultural rights, relations on intellectual property among sovereign states. Under the Convention, intellectual property rights of Protection of performers, producers of phonograms and broadcasting organizations in the territory of all member states of the Convention are protected by this international document.
