During 15 years of existence, The Commonwealth of Independent States fulfilled an important historical mission of assistance to civilized establishment of sovereign states, their selection of individual foreign policy course, economic model and civil society, reportedly said President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, chairman of CIS heads council, in his exclusive interview to ITAR-TASS.
"Regardless the successful development of some spheres of cooperation within the CIS and great demand for intense economic development, many measures stipulated in international and intergovernmental agreements are not implemented in full, he said, and these circumstances motivated heads of CIS states realize the necessity in modernization and reformation of the CIS authorities".
"Among primary objectives we see developing the new strategy of the CIS that will maximally account for needs and interests of all member-countries with the CIS and be adapted to new conditions of todays world", said Nazarbayev.
On the threshold of G8 summit in St Petersburg, President of Kazakhstan underlined that CIS is also evolving and concentrating on universal problems. He also said it is necessary to join efforts to solve the mankinds global problems.
