President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will hold talks with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, who is paying a state visit to Ashgabat, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said Jan. 21.

A wide range of issues of the interstate partnership in the bilateral format and as part of the international organizations and agencies, especially the UN, are to be discussed during the Turkmen-Afghan high level talks.

The two presidents will discuss the key areas of the mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as the implementation of major projects.

The implementation of the Turkmenistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan - India (TAPI) gas pipeline construction project, the Turkmenistan - Afghanistan - Tajikistan railway construction, "Vatan" ("Motherland") new gas turbine power station construction in Lebap region are among them. The power station will significantly increase the volume of Turkmen electricity supply to Afghanistan.

A number of new bilateral documents are planned to be signed following the high level meeting in Ashgabat.
