Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad revealed a reason for solving the nuclear issue between Iran and the U.S., during his trip to New York.

Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad revealed a reason for solving the nuclear issue between Iran and the U.S., during his trip to New York, Iranian President official website, President.ir.

According to the website of the president, Ahmadinejad spoke to "American elites" on the sidelines of the General Assembly Meeting of the UN, and said that Iran's nuclear program is a disputed issue beetwen only Iran and the U.S..

The website did not mention the names of the "American elites" that the president talked to.

Ahmadinejad said that Iran's nuclear issue will be solved if the U.S. withdraws from its position against Iran.

"The U.S. has chosen confrontation policy against Iran since Islamic Revolution occurred in 1979," Ahmadinejad said. "However, if American leaders pursued friedly policy towards Iran, then both sides would gain benefits from good relations."

He said Iranians have negative reaction towards the U.S., and this has been deepened after U.S. imposed sanctions against Iran.

The president added that the U.S. should firstly attempt to eliminate this wrong reaction with proper policy.

Earlier, stressing the need for safeguarding the international security, Ahmadinejad who is in New York to attend the annual UN General Assembly for the 8th time during his last year of tenure as the IRI president, criticized the western imposed sanctions against Iran's peaceful nuclear program, considering them obvious violation of the Islamic Republic's rights.

The Iranian president has had meetings with the Iranians living, or residing in US and the UN secretary general during his visit to New York.
