BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 18. The ruling party focuses on the importance of ensuring sustainable peace in Georgia, Georgian expert and historian Edisher Gvenetadze told Trend.
According to him, the key issue affecting the electoral scenario is Georgia's orientation towards the future.
“The ruling party is emphasizing the importance of ensuring sustainable peace as a prerequisite for continued economic growth, which has reached impressive double digits in recent months. At the same time, some opposition parties argue that integration with the European Union should be a priority. Both the preservation of peace and orientation towards Europe are important for Georgia. Therefore, I do not see any contradiction in these two directions. We should develop with European culture and values. However, this is possible only in peaceful and creative conditions. We will see what choice the population will make in the coming days,” the expert added.
Gvenetadze emphasized that the economic dynamics in the country coincide with a competitive political environment in which opposition parties are striving to succeed in the upcoming election.
“This reflects pluralism in society and progress in the development of democracy. In the framework of regional projects, Georgia strictly adheres to its commitments. All agreements must be fulfilled, and the country consistently follows these principles. Thus, Georgia is an important link in all regional projects that have been realized in cooperation with Azerbaijan and other players in the region over the past years and even decades,” he said.
To note, parliamentary election in Georgia is scheduled for October 26.
