BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 18. A transport system for COP29 guests has been established in Baku, Department Director at the COP29, Azerbaijan Operational Company Orkhan Mahmudlu said during a media tour of the Baku Olympic Stadium, Trend reports.

"A transport system has been created to shuttle all guests arriving for COP29 from all parts of the city and the Absheron Peninsula. This system includes around 16 transport hubs and over 26 pick-up and drop-off points," he said.

According to him, buses will transport delegations to and from the Olympic Stadium from each transport hub between 07:00 and 10:00 (GMT +4).

"The frequency of service will vary during peak hours. Various transport hubs will start operating from November 4, and all transport hubs will be fully operational from November 10," he added.

This November, Azerbaijan will host COP29. This decision was made at the COP28 plenary meeting held in Dubai on December 11 last year.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is an agreement signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992 to prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system. COP—the Conference of the Parties—is the highest legislative body overseeing the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change. There are 198 countries that are parties to the Convention. Unless the parties agree otherwise, the COP is held annually. The first COP event took place in March 1995 in Germany's Berlin with its secretariat in Bonn.
