All the armed insurgents who stormed the Chechen parliament early Tuesday are dead, the President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov said, DPA reported.
The exact number of dead and injured was still unclear, Russian state television reported.
Police were currently entering the building, but on the look out for booby traps.
Kadyrov telephoned Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to say that all parliamentarians were safe.
