Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has announced Wednesday that Fenerbahce Football Club will not be able to participate in the UEFA Champions League in the 2011-2012 season, Anadolu Agency reported.
In a statement released after a meeting of the TFF Executive Board, the TFF said that UEFA informed them on Tuesday about their stance on Fenerbahce and the Champions League.
"In an extraordinary meeting of the TFF Executive Board on Wednesday, a decision was taken to bar Fenerbahce from the Champions League this season by taking into consideration the heavy disciplinary sanctions Fenerbahce as well as the TFF may face," the TFF statement stressed.
In a letter sent to the TFF on August 23, 2011, the UEFA said that Fenerbahce Football Club should withdraw itself from the Champions League this season due to the match-fixing probe taking place in Turkey.
