Market of non-life-insurance decreases slightly in Azerbaijan

In January-June, 2014, some 156 million AZN (73.6 percent) out of the total volume of insurance fees accounted for the share of insurance other than life, which is 5.5 million AZN (about 3.4 percent) less than the same period last year.

In January-June, 2014, some 156 million AZN (73.6 percent) out of the total volume of insurance fees accounted for the share of insurance other than life, which is 5.5 million AZN (about 3.4 percent) less than the same period last year.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Insurers Association Orhan Bayramov made the remarks at a press conference dedicated to the activities of insurance companies in the country in the first half of the year.

The payment of insurance other than life, amounted to 61.9 million AZN (94.7 percent) during the reported period which is 5.8 million AZN (about 10.3 percent) more than the same period last year, he said.

"Some 42.6 million AZN (27.3 percent) of the fees for insurance other than life, with payments of 23 million AZN or 37.2 percent accounted for the share of health insurance, some 30.1 million AZN (19 3 percent) with payments of 13.2 million AZN or 21.4 percent for compulsory vehicle insurance , some 17.3 million AZN (11.1 percent) with payments of 13.2 million AZN or 21, 4 percent for voluntary motor insurance (CASCO), 16.9 million AZN (10.8 percent) with payments of 5.8 million AZN or 9.4 percent property insurance against fire and other risks, some 8.5 million AZN (5.4 percent) with payments of 1 million AZN or 1.6 percent for compulsory property insurance," he said.

About 39.7 AZN payments accounted for every 100 AZN fees on the market of insurance other than life during the reported period, whereas the figure was 34.8 AZN in January-June 2013.

The official exchange rate on July 17 is 0.7844 AZN/USD.
