Iran cement exports to Tajikistan to rise by 3,000 tons

Iran has exported some 5,000 tons of cement to Tajikistan since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21).

The figure shows a 3,000-ton rise compared to the previous year, Iran's Fars News Agency reported on April 28.

Tehran exported 18 million tons of cement in the last Iranian year (ended March 20).

Iran has successfully started to use railroads to export cement to neighboring and Central Asian countries.

The IRNA News Agency reported on June 23 that Iran currently exports cement to 24 countries including Iraq, Azerbaijan,Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Georgia, Oman,India, and China.

Seven countries out of the mentioned 24 account for 97 per cent of Iran's total cement exports.

The main importers of Iranian cement are Iraq (63 percent), Azerbaijan (4 percent), and Turkmenistan (7 percent).

Iran with total production of 65 million tons ranked as the world's third largest cement producer in 2012.

Former Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari said in August 2012 that the country's cement production capacity will reach 110 million tons by 2015.
