Iranian major car manufacturer’s output rises by 36%

The output of Iran's Saipa car manufacturing company rose by 36 percent in the first half of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21 - Sept. 22), the company's director general, Saeed Madani said, IRNA agency reported Oct. 26.

Saipa has produced about 172,000 cars during the 6-month period.

Madani said that production of sedan cars witnessed an increase by 40 percent, meanwhile commercial vehicles production rose by 30 percent during the period in comparison with the first half of last Iranian fiscal year.

He went on to note that the company's production is forecasted to increase by 70 percent by late current fiscal year (March 21, 2015).

Madani said the company's products shared 80 percent of Iran's car exports during last fiscal year (ended March 21), adding that the figure reached 88 percent during the first half of current fiscal year.

Some 521,585 cars were produced in Iran in the first half of the current fiscal year.

The figure shows a 74.3-percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

The Islamic Republic exported 10,744 sedans in the last Iranian fiscal year, with some 4,231 of that amount only exported in the latest Iranian month (Feb. 20- March 21).
