Iran, Thailand sign several MoUs

Iran and Thailand signed several MoUs in a meeting between Iranian Vice President for Executive Affairs Mohammad Shariatmadari and Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak.

Iran and Thailand signed several MoUs in a meeting between Iranian Vice President for Executive Affairs Mohammad Shariatmadari and Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak.

The six MoUs came in the fields of trade, pharmaceuticals, nanotechnology, biotechnology, science, and standards, IRNA news agency reported February 2.

Jatusripitak arrived in Tehran February 1. He met senior Iranian officials the following day.
Thailand's strategy is to improve trade with Iran to billion dollars levels.

A delegation of 70 businessmen, traders, bankers, etc. accompanied the Thai deputy PM to Iran.

In late 2015 Thailand expressed readiness to buy crude oil from Iran, once the international sanctions against Tehran are lifted.

Trade between Iran and Thailand amounted to $371.92 million in the previous Iranian fiscal year, which ended on March 20, 2015, according to the Iran Customs Administration.

Bilateral trade totaled $217.55 million in the first seven months of the current Iranian fiscal year.
