U.S. diplomats head to Dagestan to talk with relatives of Tsarnaevs accused of Boston terror attack

The U.S. Embassy confirmed that a group of representatives from the U.S. diplomatic mission in Moscow had left for Dagestan to communicate with the parents of Johar and Tamerlan Tsarnaevs suspected of being behind the terrorist attack during the Boston Marathon, a representative of the American Embassy told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

"A group from the U.S. embassy in Moscow left for Dagestan on Tuesday in cooperation with the Russian government to investigate the terrorist attack in Boston and to communicate with the parents of the two suspects," he said.

Previously, the visit of the U.S. Embassy's representatives to Dagestan was reported by Associated Press with reference to the embassy.

Two explosions at an interval of 12 seconds blasted through Boston on Monday at the finish of the international marathon. Three people were killed and more than 180 people injured. On the night of April 20, police arrested a suspect in the attack, 19-year-old Johar Tsarnaev. During his detention he received a gunshot wound to the side of the neck His older brother, Tamerlan, also a suspect in the attack, died in hospital last Friday from injuries sustained in a shootout with police.
