The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, congratulated Mikhail Saakashvili in his re-election as the President of Georgia. " Azerbaijan and Georgia historically enjoyed indissoluble bonds of friendship, good neighbourhood and mutual support. These good traditions form the solid basis of our interstate relations, our strategic partnership," Aliyev's letter stated.
Aliyev highlighted his confidence that joint efforts towards further development and increasing Azerbaijan-Georgia cooperation, both on a bilateral basis and within international and regional organizations, will promote prosperity to the people of the two countries and will ensure peace, stability and progress within the regions.
