Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov is monitoring the combat readiness of military formations and units, located in frontline areas, the Azerbaijani defense ministry said August 6.

During the meetings with the staff of military formations and units on combat duty, the minister instructed the servicemen about a number of tasks set by the President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, the statement said.

"In accordance with the president's instructions, the senior representatives of the defense ministry, the command staff often hold meetings with personal staff in the frontline," he said. "Our main goal is to monitor the level of combat readiness of military units and give relevant instructions and recommendations."

"By its economy, budget, demographics, military power and a number of other areas, Azerbaijan is superior to its weakening enemy today," the minister said. "Not only we, but the political leadership of Armenia recognize this."

"All this is the result of a consistent policy pursued by Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev," Hasanov said. "Thanks to the attention paid to the Azerbaijani army, our armed forces are vastly superior to the army of the enemy on the quality of modern weapons, ammunition, military equipment, including aircraft, helicopters and artillery systems, the number of personnel and in terms of military spirit."

He said that after the blows inflicted to the Armenians by the Azerbaijani army since August of 2014 until the present time, the military-political leadership of Armenia has not yet recovered consciousness and is in a state of fear and terror.

"The time has come," said the minister. "The Azerbaijani people, who have lost patience, demand us to liberate the occupied lands. Many of the decisions made by international organizations on the [Nagorno-Karabakh] conflict suggest that justice is on our side."

The visit of the minister of defense to the frontline zone continues.
