BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 28. The total number of candidates registered for the upcoming municipal election in Azerbaijan has reached 16,092, said Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), at today's press conference, Trend reports.
Panahov mentioned that 8,504 candidates were nominated by political parties.
"More than 31 percent of the candidates are women, and 82 percent have higher education. 41 percent of candidates are aged between 21 and 35, while 63 percent are between 21 and 45," said Panahov.
To note, tomorrow’s election will begin with polling stations opening at 8:00 (GMT+4), and the voting process will close at 19:00 (GMT+4).
