BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 29. Districts with the highest and lowest voter turnout in municipal election in Azerbaijan have been revealed, Head of the Information Center of the Secretariat of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Farid Orujev said, Trend reports.

As of 12:00, the highest voter turnout was observed in the Astara constituency No. 79. The voter turnout totaled 24.31 percent (11,955 voters).

The lowest voter turnout was recorded in Yasamal II constituency No. 16 at 12:00. This constituency's turnout amounted to 9.32 percent (4,505 voters).

Meanwhile, as of 12:00, more than 1 million voters exercised their right to vote in the municipal election in Azerbaijan.

To note, a municipal election is taking place in Azerbaijan today. Polling stations opened at 08:00.

A total of 8,071 members will be elected in the municipal election in 685 municipalities across 118 constituencies. The names of 16,092 candidates are on the ballot papers. The names of 5.9 million eligible voters are included in the list. A whopping 70,625 observers have been accredited by the CEC and district election commissions for the municipal elections. Web cameras have been installed at 1,000 polling stations.

Voting will last until 19:00.
