BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania, Julius Pranevičius, on April 14, 2025, Trend reports via the MFA press service.
The meeting focused on bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania, as well as the regional and international situation.
Both sides acknowledged the significant potential for cooperation in sectors such as economy, trade, energy security, and humanitarian fields. They emphasized the importance of political consultations as a mechanism for addressing related issues. The necessity of enhancing cooperation within multilateral platforms was also highlighted.
Minister Bayramov provided a detailed update on the current situation and realities in the region post-conflict, including efforts to combat the threat of landmines, as well as the ongoing process of normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He discussed the challenges in advancing peace and normalization, including territorial claims against Azerbaijan in Armenia’s constitution and other legislative acts, Armenia’s rapid rearmament, and the continued existence of the OSCE Minsk Group and other related structures.
In the course of the meeting, the sides exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
On the same day, political consultations were held between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Lithuania. Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Fariz Rzayev, and Lithuania’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Julius Pranevičius, led the consultations.
