ASCO achieves ferrying thousands of passengers in first quarter of 2025

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15.​ A total of 5,882 passengers were transported using ferries operated by Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping Company (ASCO) in the first quarter of 2025, ASCO said in a statement to Trend.

According to ASCO, a total of 4,456 passengers made the journey between the Alat-Kuryk and Kuryk-Alat ports. Out of the bunch, 2,559 passengers made their way from Alat to Kuryk, while 1,897 took the road less traveled in the opposite direction.

During the same period, 1,426 passengers were transported between the Alat-Turkmenbashi and Turkmenbashi-Alat ports. Of these, 908 passengers traveled from Alat to Turkmenbashi, while 518 made the return journey.

Due to the quarantine regime, Azerbaijani citizens wishing to leave the country by ferry are required to obtain special permission from the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers. Foreign nationals do not need to present this permit when exiting the country. However, both Azerbaijani and foreign nationals wishing to enter Azerbaijan by ferry must obtain the same permit.
