BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15. It is important to strengthen media ties between the countries of the Black Sea-Caspian space, said Chairman of the Audiovisual Council of Azerbaijan Ismat Sattarov as he welcomed the participants of the 11th Meeting of the Black Sea Regulatory Authorities Forum in Baku, Trend reports.

“It is a great honor and a great responsibility for us to hold a Forum in Baku, which unites so many countries with a rich culture, history and traditions, and at the same time plays an important role in modern politics,” Sattarov said.

Highlighting bilateral ties, he noted Azerbaijan's interest in enhancing cooperation with Albania, Bulgaria, and Georgia. “Georgia is not only a neighbor and a strategic partner, but also a bridge to the Black Sea region,” he said, calling for deeper regulatory collaboration.

He welcomed the Greek delegation, noting that “establishing closer ties between our media and media regulators will be highly beneficial for both countries,” while also pointing to Moldova as a country with “a common history and common problems,” emphasizing the need to update a 2017 cooperation agreement.

Sattarov highlighted preparations for a visit to Romania and ongoing efforts with Serbia to finalize a memorandum. He noted the “special nature” of relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan, marked by strong political and economic ties.

Particular appreciation was expressed toward Türkiye’s Radio & Television Supreme Council (RTÜK). “The existence of this Forum has only been possible thanks to the activity and competence of one of the world's leading media regulators,” he said, thanking RTÜK members for their ongoing support.

Sattarov also extended gratitude to BSEC for its role in supporting the Forum, welcoming Ambassador Dr. Merve Safa Kavakçı and expressing hope that the event would “serve the purpose of strengthening cooperation between the countries of the organization.”
