BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15. The 11th meeting of the Forum of Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities (FBRA) of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) member countries, organized by the Audiovisual Council of Azerbaijan, was held in Baku, Trend reports.

The BRAF is a key player in the regional arena, designed to open the floodgates for dialogue and cooperation among the broadcasting regulatory authorities of the region's countries, paving the way for a rich exchange of ideas and experiences.

The main topic of the meeting, bringing together around 30 heads and authorized representatives of the audiovisual media regulatory bodies from Serbia, Romania, Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, Türkiye, Moldova, Georgia, and Azerbaijan, as well as officials from the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children’s Affairs of Azerbaijan, the Media Development Agency, and media representatives, is "Protection of Children in Media Services."

The event will roll out the red carpet for a general session, shining a spotlight on the latest twists and turns in audiovisual media regulation across the member countries, along with panel sessions on "Legal regulation of child protection and its effective implementation" and "The role of media literacy and parental control in child protection."

The Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan was established as the authority controlling the field of audiovisual media by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Media," dated December 30, 2021. The council guarantees the execution of the existing legislation, regulates the audiovisual media sphere, monitors audiovisual media in order to control conformity with the current legislation, and participates in the formation of state policy in the audiovisual media sphere.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Audiovisual Council of Azerbaijan Ismat Sattarov noted that strengthening relations between the media of the countries of the Black Sea-Caspian region is of great importance.

” It is a great honor and a great responsibility for us to hold a Forum in Baku – a city that unites countries with its rich culture, history and traditions, and also plays an important role in modern politics, " Sattarov said.

Speaking about bilateral cooperation, he noted that Azerbaijan is interested in developing relations with Albania, Bulgaria, and Georgia. ” Georgia is not only a neighbor and strategic partner, it is also a bridge to the Black Sea region, " he said, calling for deepening cooperation in the field of regulation of media distribution.

Secretary General of the Black Sea broadcasting regulatory bodies Forum Deniz Güçer said in her speech that the media and children are a very sensitive topic and affect each of us, no matter where we are.

She said that another problem is how children are presented and shown on social media.

"Today, video and audio media and Broadcasting create too much information for children, and unfortunately, children are exposed to harmful content. Finding a solution to how to protect children in broadcasting services is our common problem," She said.

Moreover, it was noted in the form that the 12th Meeting of the Black Sea broadcasting regulatory bodies Forum (BRAF) will be held in Albania.
