BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 15. The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement with the Japanese company Takenaka Civil Engineering as part of the "Improvement of International Trunk Roads" project, Trend reports.
Under the agreement, a 750-meter-long tunnel will be constructed at the 400th kilometer of the Bishkek–Osh highway. The construction work is scheduled to begin in June 2025.
The project aims to enhance the safety and efficiency of one of the country’s key transport routes connecting the north and south. Both parties have articulated their dedication to facilitating optimal execution and punctual realization of the initiative.
The agreement reflects ongoing cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Japan in the field of infrastructure development, supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
