BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 15. Kyrgyzstan’s next presidential election is scheduled to take place on January 24, 2027, following the approval of amendments to the constitutional law governing presidential and parliamentary elections, Trend reports.

The decision was made during a session of the parliamentary committee on constitutional legislation, state structure, legal affairs, and regulations.

The draft law, initiated by President Sadyr Zhaparov, aims to align the electoral law with the current Constitution by clarifying the timing of regular presidential elections.

According to the amendments, future presidential elections will be held on the fourth Sunday of January in the year the incumbent’s term expires. The parliament is required to officially schedule the election no later than four months before the voting day.

President Sadyr Zhaparov was elected on January 28, 2021, for a six-year term under the previous version of the Constitution.
