A book on Azeri law on fighting corruption presented

On Tuesday the Baku Business Center hosted a presentation of a book on �Commentary on the Law on Fighting Corruption’, prepared by MP Alimammed Nuriyev, the President of Research Fund �Constitution’, Trend reports.

In his remarks Nuriyev thanked Open Society Institute - Assistance Foundation and Transparency International-Azerbaijan for financial support.

The author underlined that the actions taken by the country’s leadership for fighting corruption, qualitative and quantitative shortages, noting the importance of considering the international experience, as well as implementation of a set of measures in the same period.

Nuriyev said that there is a necessity in Azerbaijan for actions directed at fighting the corruption, as �such manifestations gained a size and dynamic which makes doubtful the state and public security of the country.

The author noted that the Law on fighting corruption was of a blanket character, as it defines a list of laws to be referred while revealing the corruption subjects. Nuriyev said that a Convention on defining the corruption subjects should be reconsidered.

The same time Nuriyev noted that the legislative act almost does not envisage legal base on revealing and prevention of the facts of corruption by the international organizations and foreign citizens.

A notion 'relative of senior ranking official’, which the law regards very indefinably, which could yield tremendous problems.

Attending the event were MPs, representatives from the Development Gateway Foundation, as well as local and international experts.
