Venice Commission to organize training for re-run parliamentary elections

The Venice Commission of the Council of Europe has not received any appeal from the Azerbaijani government on injection of changes into the elections legislation o the eve of the parliamentary elections to be held in May 2006, Tatyana Mychelova, a spokesman for the VC Secretariat, told Trend in an exclusive interview.

At the moment we have not received any inquiry from the Azerbaijani government concerning the cooperation with the Venice Commission, she underlined.

At the same time Mychelova announced on the VCs intention on conduct of training for elections commissions on the eve of the re-run parliamentary elections in 10 constituency elections commissions. The date and topic of the training are still to be defined, but it can be organized for representatives of the elections commissions, as well as the CEC.

We usually elect definite aspects, which are important in the organization of the elections. Sometimes, it is dealt with concrete target groups, for instance, for judges about complains. Sometimes, trainings are held for elections commissions on conduct of elections, Mychelova said.
